A job listing published on Ubisoft's website suggests that the remake of the original Splinter Cell will grace us with a storyline tailored to modern audiences.

Remake of the first installation of Splinter Cell was announced some time ago. Since then, the subject went off the radar. Until now, that is, when the editors of PlayStation Universe found a job offer posted on Ubisoft's official website. It indicates that the plot of the stealth classic will be "rewritten" to suit today's audiences.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Remake needs a scriptwriter who will take care of sketching the characters efficiently and writing dialogues for them, while making them more convincing and authentic.

"Using the first Splinter Cell game as our foundation we are rewriting and updating the story for a modern-day audience. We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game while exploring our characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable," reads the job offer.

Added to the above, the screenwriter's task will be to Draft a "coherent and compelling story for new audiences of Splinter Cell".

This could really mean anything. From insignificant details to even recasting key features of iconic characters. Sam Fisher from the first installation of the series is a rather taciturn type, and the developers could be tempted to change him at least in this regard, so that the protagonist speaks more often. They could also approach the subject as the creators of the Resident Evil 2 remake, who succeeded brilliantly in modernizing Leon, Claire and the rest.

Time will tell what Ubisoft intends. It is comforting to know that it is keen to preserve the spirit of the original, so it should be a linear game, heavily focused on stealth.. However, it was not revealed when, more or less, the remake will appear, so we have to wait for new information.
